The CBE Staff association convention was this past Feb 12th & 13th. I had one class each day-both for artist trading cards. Artist trading cards are miniature pieces of art made on 2.5"x 3.5" cards, card stock, or chipboard. Some people actually get together (in person or in groups online) to trade these cards with one another. They give a little peek into an artist's style. I make mine very similar to my art journal pages, using multiple techniques and mediums.
Here's a closer look at what some of the lovely ladies created.
Time for a henna party! This was my first henna party and it was held for a girl's 25th birthday last weekend.
It was everyone's first time trying out henna for themselves and they came up with some really creative designs.
Here's a closer look at everyone's work.
I also had a young artist in the group (he makes paintings), and he did a gecko/lizard design on his hand which turned out quite amazing.

We had a mixed media/art journal workshop at loft 112 on Feb 7th just after the henna workshop. We created some gorgeous pages, this time without words and that's why it ended up being more of a mixed media class.
On the first page we used a mask to mask away a shape in the middle of the page and then all the of the work was done around it. The mask was then removed at the end to reveal a crisp shape.
On the second we page used tissue paper as a background and then we layered on some ink sprays as before applying stencils with gesso over top. Two of the girls then added some magazine cut-outs to the page as well.
I had a small henna class at the gorgeous Loft112 in downtown today. The students started off by learning how to draw lines and how to use the henna cone.
The students first practice in a booklet until they get the hang of using the henna cone before moving on to putting it on their own hands.
Have a look at the beautiful designs that these lovely ladies came up with. They created some flowers, vines, and there's even a peacock.
Hi everyone! I'm having more henna and art journaling classes in Calgary on Saturday Feb 7th in a gorgeous loft in downtown. For more information please have a look here.

I love creating stuff. I also get bored easily. So, on this blog you'll find my experiments with various mediums and techniques along with some of my students' creations from classes that I teach.
