I haven't carved a pumpkin in years and this year there was a pumpkin carving contest at work. I've always loved the look of a painted pumpkin so I decided to go that route. The first step was to hollow out the pumpkin and then paint it (I used cheepie craft paint). I then drew the design roughly onto the pumpkin with a pencil and carved it with a pumpkin carving knife. The little crutties that came from the carving process got stuck all over the paint and when I tried to clean them off the paint started to wipe off so I went ahead and repainted over it after it was cut. This gave the pumpkin a nice clean finish. I would have loved to add some bling to the sky to look like more stars but I forgot to bring it!. The pumpkin ended up coming in third place =). © Ammara Cokar 2014
