    Zaynab

A childhood friend of mine had a sweet baby girl named Zaynab, and I wanted to make something special for her room. This little project was done on a canvas and I wanted it to somewhat resemble a baby quilt.  I started off by decoupaging actual fabric bits to the canvas.  I used matt Mod Podge for this because I wanted the finish to still look like it was fabric and not printed paper.  I think using glossy Mod Podge would have taken the texture away from the fabrics. Wood Burnt Jewelry Boxes

I love the look of wood burnt henna designs, they remind me of actual henna because of the color.  I made a whole bunch of jewelry or trinket boxes a little while ago and I’ve been meaning to share them.  I left the wood unfinished because I personally prefer it this way.  If you like color though, you can stain or paint these boxes in any way you choose. The following boxes have 3 compartments and a mirror on the inside of the lid as well. © Ammara Cokar 2014

    More Spoons

I’ve been burning quite a fair bit of spoons lately.  These make great gifts because just about everyone cooks.  The best part is that you can actually use them for cooking and the designs won’t fade because they’ve been burnt into the wood.  The spoons will stain however, the way all wooden spoons do (depending on what you’re cooking with) but the design will stay put. Here are some pictures of what I’ve been working on: © Ammara Cokar 2014
